The Venue
The Mana Mana Beach Club fronts on to a white sandy, palm-fringed beach inside a horseshoe-shaped bay and the wind is cross-onshore. There is a range of sailing conditions from flat water to steep chop, rolling swells and smooth faces of up to one meter. Wind speeds generally range from 12-20 knots (though winds have clocked 50 knots!).
Though racing commences on the 17th January, competitors begin arriving on the 15th January to practice and benefit from clinics and equipment try-outs given by Team Neil Pryde. The racing programme includes slalom and "speed dash" events and categories include Ladies, Open and Masters (age 40 over).
As this is one destination where there are wave faces the recommendation for two boards and three sails is: boards - slalom 280-295 and wave slalom 270-280; sails - slalom 6.0, 7.0 and your largest sail for light days. Equipment is generally not available for hire for racing. Prizes consist of Neil Pryde equipment, cash and other items.
